Tim is the founder of Knitting Media and co-founder of Purl Applications Ltd.
Following a 10-year career in manufacturing automation, Tim started his Out-Of-Home (OOH) media career in 2003 with Dynamax who built out the first Digital OOH network in the world for Maiden Outdoor (subsequently bought by Titan) and supported trailblazing global DOOH deployments for companies including Clear Channel and JCDecaux.
Tim left CAPITa in 2011 to join JCDecaux to develop the technical function of their UK DOOH estate and moved into the marketing team in 2013 to help develop the commercial proposition for both classic and digital inventory. Tim lead the development of CAPTAin, the DOOH markets first audience data driven sales platform, and then SmartBRICS, an end-to-end planning, trading and reporting platform for all Traditional and Digital OOH inventory.
The SmartBRICS platform was deployed globally by JCDecaux, and with the addition of programmatic capabilities, became VIOOH in 2018
Knitting Media was formed by Tim in 2019 to help clients thread together and automate their commercial media tools. Clients have included Stratacache, Broadsign, Publicis, Evolve, KBH Media, Ocean Outdoor and Outsmart, the UK’s OOH trade body. The work with Outsmart includes hosting the weekly cOOHding.club and active contribution to the IAB Tech Lab programmatic standards such as OpenRTB and OpenDirect in conjunction with the OAAA, OMA and WOOH organisations.
In 2021, Tim co-founded Purl, an end-to-end planning, direct trading, content and reporting SAAS platform for both Traditional and Digital OOH. Purl is currently used by agencies including PGOne, Spark, Starcom & Zenith, and has facilitated the spend of over £250M into the UK OOH market.
